First appointments made to 2013 judging panel for TheStadiumBusiness Awards

The organisers of TheStadiumBusiness Awards have today announced the first two appointments to the international judging panel for the 2013 prizegiving.

Dr. Bernie Mullin (Chairman and CEO, The Aspire Group) and Daniel Gidney (Chief Executive, Lancashire County Cricket Club) are the first two judges appointed to the panel, which will determine the winners of TheStadiumBusiness Awards 2013.

About Bernie Mullin
An internationally-acclaimed management and marketing consultant and speaker, who literally ‘wrote the book’ on “Sport Marketing”, Bernie Mullin has over 30 years of experience as a chief executive or senior director in iconic and highly visible sport and entertainment organizations.

Dr. Mullin was formerly the CEO of the Atlanta Hawks (NBA), Atlanta Thrashers (NHL) and Philips Arena; SVP of Marketing and Team Business at the NBA; SVP Business at MLB’s Colorado Rockies and Pittsburgh Pirates; Vice Chancellor of Athletics at the University of Denver (NCAA); and Business School / Sport Management faculty member at the University of Massachusetts.

About Daniel Gidney
In August 2013, when an international Ashes Test match arrives back at Old Trafford for the first time since 2005, Daniel Gidney will be a rare breed of venue leader that will have overseen international football, rugby and cricket.

After building a career in entertainment, venue management and large scale facilities, Daniel established his reputation in stadium management and non-matchday revenue generation during his six years at the Ricoh Arena. He moved the business from £3.2m loss to in excess of £3 million ebitda and repaid over £6m of senior debt. Under his leadership, the Ricoh Arena won multiple awards with Daniel securing both the Olympic Games and the Rugby World Cup to the venue and to the region.

“I am delighted that Daniel and Bernie have agreed to join our 2013 Panel,” comments Ian Nuttall, founder of TheStadiumBusiness Awards, and chair of the Judging Panel.

“We carefully select our Awards judges from around the world each year to represent the very best the stadium business has to offer.”

“Bernie, of course, was the worthy recipient of our Outstanding Achievement Award last year in Turin for his outstanding service and leadership in our industry, while Daniel is enjoying an immensely successful career, establishing the Ricoh Arena as a real ‘reference point’ for modern stadium management before his appointment at Lancashire this year.”

“We thank both Bernie and Daniel for joining the Panel,” continues Nuttall. “And look forward to their expert input in determining our 2013 Award winners.”

Nominations for the fourth annual edition of TheStadiumBusiness Awards will open on Monday 3 December 2012. For further information, please visit www.stadiumbusinessawards.com
