Pitch Perfect – My First Awards

Having spent the last six months settling into my new home at Xperiology, it seems only yesterday that I walked into the office in the midst of preparations for TheStadiumBusiness Summit 2015. Just four weeks after I’d learnt everyone’s names, we packed up and headed to Barcelona for the three day event incorporating TheStadiumBusiness Summit, Fan Experience Forum, Premium Seat Seminar, Venue Technology Meeting and TheStadiumBusiness Awards 2015. Quite the trial by fire for the new Event Manager.

The Awards night at Camp Nou has easily been the highlight of my time here so far. As I sat amongst the industry’s finest on the private terrace overlooking the pitch, I realised that something really special was happening around me. I was therefore absolutely thrilled to be honoured with the task of heading up TheStadiumBusiness Award 2016 along with fellow Xperiologist, Karl.

The night was so incredible this year that I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t feeling the pressure – how do you top a night at Camp Nou? Well, dinner on the pitch at The Bernabeu should do it!

Of course the venue is going to make the night a once in a lifetime experience, but we’re also very excited to be introducing a charity fundraising element this time round. Being a community-conscious company, Ian and Angelina recently confirmed that they intend to give back 1% of the annual turnover to charitable causes – a wonderful idea that we all support wholeheartedly. We’re confident guests at the Awards evening will embrace the notion with a great deal of positivity and we are looking forward to seeing what can be achieved during the event.

Nominations for the awards opened today and we’re already seeing many entries for categories such as Venue of the Year Award, Unsung Hero Award and Venue Technology Award. If you’ve got someone in mind that should be recognised next year be sure to nominate them here and tell us why you think they deserve to win. Nominations close on 29 February before open voting begins on 28 March. We’re so excited to find out who has been doing great things this year.

We’ll see you on the pitch!
