We’re raising money for Macmillan!

It’s really important to the XP team to know that we are giving something back – which is why last year, founders Ian and Angelina made a promise to deliver not only some of the world’s most respected Sports and Live Entertainment meetings, but also as many fundraising events as we can fit in around our own roster. Well, we’ve got all the skills in house so why not use them to help?

This week, as part of our pledge we are hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning in the local village hall to raise money for the 2.5 million people in the UK living with cancer.

The premise is simple – our team will provide the home-baked goods, Storrington Village Hall is kindly supplying the tea and coffee and everyone is welcome to drop by and treat themselves to a hot drink and a treat, with all proceeds going to this fantastic cause.

The first ever Coffee Morning happened way back in 1990. It was a rather small affair with a simple idea: guests would gather over coffee and donate the cost of their cuppa to Macmillan in the process. It was so effective, we did it again the next year – only this time nationally. Since then, Coffee Morning has raised over £138 million for Macmillan.

To make sure we have a succesful day, Tamara and Lizzie set out about the local high street, armed with posters, to invite local businesses to join the morning and promote the event. The response was great and they returned from their mission leaving a wake of advertising in shop windows.

Hosting your own Coffee Morning is easy. All you have to do is sign up and Macmillan will send you a free Coffee Morning Kit (you can see ours below), packed with all the things you need to host a wonderful event. It makes everything from inviting your friends to raising money a piece of cake.

If you happen to be in West Sussex on Friday morning, pop in and visit our head baker, Josie for some muddy puddle Peppa Pig cakes!
